Radar level continuous measurement technology

The principle of operation of the Accu Wave radar sensor is based on the well-tried method of continuous frequency modulation of the signal (FMCW). FMCW technology uses X-band electromagnetic waves in a band near 10 GHz.

The radar provides a frequency sweep from 9.5 GHz to 10.5 GHz. The electromagnetic wave is generated by the antenna (waveguide) of the radar and is sent to the mirror of the measured surface. Reaching the surface of the liquid, the electromagnetic wave is reflected, returning to the radar antenna. The time and frequency of the returned wave between its generation and return is recorded by the electronics of the level gauge (see figure). These values ​​are directly proportional to the distance from the radar antenna to the surface of the measured fluid. The delay time t is converted to frequency and described by the equation:
